For us it was great to cooperate with Basha Franklin by experimenting and producing unique art-works. The idea is to mix machine production and handcrafting to create modern pieces of furniture that can stand out in any space.
Directly from Mount Etna in Sicily, Lava stone is a basalt quarried from an ancient eruption of the Volcano. This alone makes it an interesting stone, in addition in can come in different forms, it can be very compact, or it can have holes, depending on which part of the magma flow is quarried.
On this occasion we also had the pleasure to work with the students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Verona who designed several items with the intention of recovering small leftover pieces that are usually not used for the normal production in order to reduce wastage and give the material a second chance.
The project winner was Mug-ma, designed by Davide Cavalieri Gianluca Groff with whom we enjoyed a wonderful time in Manchester.
